Creation of Journal and Twitter tweet

Journal Entry:

Clear image:         composition of 2 genres

Tweet:

Genre #2: social media

Rhetorical Situation: Effect of social media/technology on mental health

Audience: Teenagers

Purpose: The purpose of this tweet is to show that some people may think that someone taking care of their mental health is a weird thing, but it isn’t. I want this quote to show that it is extremely important who you surround yourself with. In fact, it can possibly be one of the first steps that a person needs to take to better themselves.

Medium: Twitter tweet. I chose this because it can relate to my audience at hand. Teenagers 100% always use social media, and with this tweet, it can reach them in a much easier manner compared to a journal. Not only that, but they might be able to relate to it easier, and this can make it much easier to get my point across.

Stance: informal, Informational

Rationale:

The purpose of my work is to not only inform those about the importance of mental health but are related to the things such as social media that can have a huge impact on it. “How can social media be used more effectively to bring people with mental health difficulties together and help them interact (e.g., in their communities) instead of isolating them in their homes?” was my thesis statement. Yes, it can be used more efficiently, I concluded after conducting my inquiry-based essay. In addition, I discussed three alternative strategies for making social media more beneficial for those with mental illnesses. It was who had access to social media, how social media was engineered, and how accessible support groups were. People with mental illnesses are the audience I’m aiming for. It might also be people who want to learn more about how social media affects people with mental illnesses. Finding knowledge on this subject is the challenge I’m up against. I can locate material on social media and mental health on their own but connecting them to ideas and bringing them together is a challenge. My essay’s goal is to raise awareness about how social media and technology can have a negative impact on people who are suffering from mental illnesses. Now, in order of most valuable to least valuable, I’ll list the genres that my audience will find most appealing. Presentations, Science articles, twitter, A journal, Billboards, Speeches, Journals, Blogs, Narratives, and Movies are just a few examples. I plan on employing stylistic aspects to help me reach my goal of stating my assertion and then supporting it with proof. This will assist me in conveying my message to the readers and allow them to comprehend what I am trying to communicate. A journal is the first genre that I decided to work with. This genre would be a good fit for the content of my essay because it can appeal to people who aren’t really interested in what I’m studying, but who would find it interesting, nonetheless. Because education is so important, this genre is appropriate for my target audience. People can still be informed and learn new things even if it doesn’t target the audience I was hoping for. I’ve done previous work in this genre. I’d like to hone my skills in this genre because news is always current. For my second genre, I chose to use a twitter tweet. This genre would be an excellent fit for my essay’s subject because it allows more people to see it. On social media in general, there is a lot more advertising. Because it will be lot easier for people to access, this genre will be appropriate for my audience. I’ve done previous work in this genre. I’d like to work on this genre because I believe social media is the way of the future. It has a wide range of applications, and I believe it will continue to have an impact on the world. The purpose of my piece was to bring an age group of people, that were different, and somewhat similar. They can both really to the same thing on a certain level as well. I feel like these John rose will help people, and at the end of the day I feel like it will really target any type of audience. At the end of the day, it just depends on who might be interested in the topic that I’m speaking about. I also feel like the layout of this essay is extremely important period to me, an essay with no structure in it makes no sense. I might as well not read it, because I know that I will already struggle to find what I’m looking for. However, with this essay, I feel as if it is well structured. If anyone were looking for something specific, they would be able to find it with ease. This was one of my main goals when I was writing this essay period to make sure that it is accessible to everyone, in that it would be beneficial for everyone, no matter what type of person that they were. Although I have worked with both genres before, I still feel like I learned a lot. I was able to add on to my previous experience, and now I have much more experience in these topics. This can most definitely be beneficial for me in future classes, when I must write harder essays. With a good base, it will be easy to write anything that might be difficult. Because at the end of the day, the base is what creates the whole essay, and if the base doesn’t make sense, nothing else will make sense.

Reflection:

The barriers in communicating to my audience that I had, was that I was worried I wouldn’t be able to relate to them. In other words, I was worried that the genre I would choose wasn’t too common amongst them. What I mean is that my audience is between teenagers, and young adults. To overcome these barriers, I decided that instead of choosing a genre that mainly focused on one of those audiences, I would choose two genres that would bring both audiences together. So I went with Twitter, which was a form of social media. It would most definitely reach my teenage audience much easier, because everyone including myself, and to be honest maybe a lot of young adults also go on social media lot. The whole world revolves around social media. I personally find out most of the world News through social media itself. And for the journal entry, it would target the young adult’s audience. A lot of young adults still like to read, and maybe educate and inform themselves in a different way other than social media, so I decided that a journal would be a perfect fit to reach that audience. At the same time, some teenagers also love to read, and might have to read something like this for school. So, I feel like the two genres I chose really brought both groups together in a lot of ways.  This The composing process was much different from my research essay. My research essay mainly focused on research, and I had to find ways to support my opinion, and what I thought about the topic that I was doing at hand. I say, focused more on who I was showing this research to, and how it could affect them. It also talked about how it can relate to them, and how I brought all these ideas together for my estate to make sense at once. I chose the two journals that I did because I felt that it brings my audience together. Although I had teenagers, and young adults as my audience, they technically fall in the same group. The two John was that I chose would be applicable to both age groups and can help either or. It will have the same effect on both age groups, and I feel like that was a good way for me to portray what I was trying to say. This is John right affected the audience’s choice because with these genres, they can relate to the topic I’m talking about much easier. That way, it will be easier for them to understand, and they can start to have a connection with what I’m saying and build an opinion for themselves and see if they agree or not. Not only that, but if something is easier to read for them, they can learn from it much easier as well. Overall, it’ll positively influence the person who is reading it no matter the age group. The rhetorical practice that I use the most would have to be logos. The term logos is used to refer to the use of logic and reasoning in crafting a piece of persuasive writing or rhetoric. Building a logical case can take time and effort but understanding logos and being able to make effective logical appeals can elevate your writing and help engage your reader. A lot of my argument was built off logic, and research. I was stating facts, and from those facts I was able to make very reasonable conclusions, and with that, I was able to let the reader choose if they agree or not. They were most definitely effective in the way that I presented them. It allowed me to well organize my essay, and I was able to show evidence, in analyze on what I chose, whilst giving the reader a chance to understand what the point I’m trying to make is. Overall, I feel like this essay has helped me improve my style of writing. this English course it’s coming to an end, and as that is coming, I begin to realize that I’ve never really written these types of essays. But I can move say that my sense of writing has improved because of the assignments that my professor has been doing. I’m very grateful for this, because now when I take Carter English classes, I will most definitely not struggle as much. I’ll be able to write all my ideas down and voice them in a way that makes sense to everyone. I’ve learned from my mistakes, I’ve also learned of the things I should and should not do, and this is just overall help me improve as a writer. Overall, I enjoyed writing this essay comma and I wouldn’t mind writing it again so that I could learn more and improve my writing skills.
